I've been investing since 1964 and I have lived through bear
markets. They are not good.

Hi Terry,

I respect your fears, but I don't think bear markets happen with 1% inflation, 5-6% interest rates, and 4.5% unemployment. Can you name one bear market where such awesome conditions existed?

Asia is weak, South America and Mexico are weak, Russia seems to be
on the verge of becoming a guasi communist state again.

Keep in mind the overall size of these economies with the US economy. Also, balance that with relative strength in Western Europe.

Regardless, I am not looking for the market to prop up Ascend. Every point of reference I have indicates that this will be a very strong quarter for Ascend. Add that to a very strong possibility that LU will swoop to grab ASND in some time in October, and I think we are on the verge of a run to the 60's by ASND.

Although I don't necessarily believe the rumors Mr. Venooker has informed us of, I wouldn't totally discount them either. I do not believe LU will be able to compete with Cisco without ASND, period. The purchase price will not be less than 70, because anything less will invite competitive bids by ERICY, ALA, and others. But LU has the most to gain or lose, and it would be against their interest to lowball ASND as Timmie suggests.
