I agree with the second statement - as to the first, I very much doubt it. Portals would not want to get into this kind of heavy, transactional business, certainly not at this stage of their evolution. Their emphasis is on acquiring companies that help them to *aggregate* commerce, rather than on building (versus buying) the technology that underlies (certain kinds of) transactions.
