The key to success for Apple is not making some OS that will be used only by a few hundred graphics professionals and game makers. The real issue is if Apple can capture the next big trend.

The BE OS is really great; I've seen it in action and it works far better than NT. But, does Apple really want to compete in the OS market?

Personally, I think that the key to Apple's future success is to catch teh next wave of innovation (something that it used to do with startling regulatity back in the '80s). Perhaps it will be making a cheap browser/thin client computer which will revolutionize what computers are used for now.

The reality is how to make the average user use the power of a computer. Most people use their computers as word processors and game machines. Imagine what would happen if the average joe could use the computer for something more useful.

I imagine that people reading this will aks what the heck I'm talking about. My problem with talking about the Mac OS and the Win95 OS is that they are not where the action is going to be. In fact, I feel that if Apple is simply concentrating on this it can kiss success in the next generation goodbye.
