Having some experience with diagnosing internet trading problems, the definition of "...couldn't access the site" is just a start. It could be Brown's problem, it could be the internet, it could be your ISP, it could be something on your PC or telephone line that needs to be changed/reset. I've had all of the above cause "access" problems. With respect to "short" inventory, I think Brown is average. Brown's growing assets rapidly and obviously all their non-retirement accounts are margin accounts so they should get better over time. Do you know for sure that any brokers had shares to short on your issue? With respect to account maintenance this afternoon, I encountered this message on PCLine: >>>>>>>>> The System will be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance on Friday,August 28 from 5:00pm until 12:00am Eastern time. <<<<<<<<< This information was not presented on the website and surely this could have been handled better. I would think you could put up a dummy website that displayed "site undergoing maintenance" while you worked on the real thing.
