Mike,
<<Maybe you caught the very first, tiny glimmer of hope towards a change in sentiment regarding the Asian Crisis?>>

Maybe. But a word of caution here. I agree with your observations about the signals of change. They first come in very small fragmented pieces. This means a higher risk of false signals IMO. In addition I think it is in my nature to want to see hope. I will share a story with you. About three months before the Thai baht devaluation I gave a speech to a Singapore audience on the "Asia Economic Miracle". In that speech I debunked the term "miracle" saying that the extraordinary growth was due to Asian work habits and dedication as well as free market conditions. While I made mention of transparency issues and "favourable governmental concessions to big business" I predicted that Asia's growth would continue and prodded U.S. companies to take greater interest in Asian markets. I now know that the signals were there and I just didn't pay heed. By the flip side of that token I now eagerly consume any good news I can find. But the bit of pragmatist in me says there is still a lot of challenges and possible bad news on the horizon.

Best,
Stitch
