Henry,

How can you be so sure about an Arab/Muslim involvement in the Nairobi/Dar es-Salaam bombing of US embassies? Because the media threw a bogeyman like this Saudi billionaire to the naive American public?

You know, there's a good term that best defines terrorism: it's twilight. A superpower like the USA's got a lot of ennemies or rather, opposing/diverging foreign interests.

Do you remember President Clinton's African Tour a few months ago? This was a milestone event! I can tell you: visiting President Mandela, meeting with newly enthroned President Kabila in Ruanda. I seem to remember that Clinton even dropped by Senegal... or was it Cameroun? Anyway, it was the first presidential trip in Africa by a US President in 20-25 years. Such a seachange! A few months before, Dem. reverend Jessie Jackson was visiting Kinshasa and a few months after President Clinton's ''safari'', the CEO of the American Import/Export Bank was landing in Central Africa --another significant event.

All these bold initiatives of the White House with regard to a region that's always been neglected by former US administrations --Central Africa that is-- was not suppose to please the French and, to a lesser extent their traditional European allies in the region. After all, Clinton was hanging about in France's traditional backyard!! Get the picture?

As Clinton was sadly destabilized by this MonicaGate set-up, rival interests of the USA all over the world seized the opportunity: from Israel's refusal of the Oslo accord to Nothern Ireland peace settlement to... Central Africa, Clinton's foreign agenda has been systematically sabotaged!

The US are trying to shoulder some other foreign corporate interests out of Congo, and out of Western Africa? BANG! two US embassies in anglosaxon Africa are blown up! Got the message? Hey! After all, Congo's one of the richest minefield on earth! First producer of cobalt...

I want you to get me right: I don't claim that there's no Arab/Muslim hostility toward the US but then again... why Tanzania and Kenya? Why not blowing up the Indonesian US embassy instead? Is there currently no anti-US feelings in the largest Muslim country in the world? And then, remember how the Palestinians have reacted to these odious bombings: they kept a low profile. After all, who has the highest interest in deteriorating the US/Arab relations? The Palestinians? Iranian leader Khatami? Nope! They struggle to get back in favor with the US. So, as you can see, these terrorist stories are much, much more complex than this Hollywood Good, Bad and Ugly-story offered by the mainstream media!

Regards,

Gustave.
