Hi, Dennis! Generally Dell sells off after the split and stays down for a couple of months, establishing a base from which it climbs. If this repeats Dell is available at a discount, can be bought FOR LESS than the current price: $118.75

October 120 Put: 11.00

The strategy: Play with the other guy's money! Sell the Put [100 shares @ 11.00] for $1,100/contract. If the stock drops below 120 it is assigned to the seller, who gets the shares for $109.00 [120 Strike price less 11.00 premium] If its 120+ on X-day the seller keeps the premium, free!

Seller also gets to watch the market for 7 weeks before writing a big check. If Dell drops to $100 he can roll the puts out for another 6 months to 2 years and bring in more premium money. A roll-out is when you buy the expiring option and simultaneously sell one longer in the future.

I think Dell may be influenced by negative market sentiments, so I sold 20 Sep 115 Puts Friday and brought in $12,000. If Dell is 115+ three weeks from Friday [expiration day] I keep the 12K and sell some more puts. Pull up CBOE and print out the DELL option schedules to study. Other 120 Put prices:

November 13.50
January 16.75
February 20.00
Jan 2000 28.00
Jan 2001 36.50

THIS IS THE CHEAPEST WAY TO BUY STOCKS. Hope this helps, Dennis. Best wishes!

Don Martini
