VVUS management tried to hold on to their #1 position in early 1998 and fight the pending Viagra launch with an "impotence awareness campaign", expansion of their field force, hiring of a contract PCP sale force, a direct to consumer program, and no partnering with Big Pharma. The end result is reflected in Friday's closing price>> BigKNY3, There is no coattail effect because MUSE has never been effectively detailed to the PCP's in the US. Prior to Viagra, ED was always treated by urologists. Except for a few aggressive PCP's like myself who pride themselves on being "full service" docs, most of the PCP's I know still have not got a clue about MUSE and don't tell the patients with a Viagra scrip that there is something that can be done if Viagra doesn't work. Management obviously lost their game plan for marketing in the face of Viagra release and trying to get the new plant approved at the same time. Also, the public doesn't know about MUSE and they therefor assume there is no other treatment when the Viagra doesn't work or side effects preclude it's use. A real marketing partner or a big pharma buyout could change that. The recent post of a conversation with Nina does not indicate a buyout is not going to happen. (I get so tickled when people think that all you have to do is call IR and you will be given non-public information about a stock.) After a buyout Lee Wilson could take his new shares (assuming a buyout would be done with stock) and sit on the sidelines with the rest of us where he belongs. Zebra PS I might also add that I have prescribed the Actis band by itself or in conjunction with Viagra for men whose history indicates mild if any difficulty in achieving an erection but the history indicates a vascular leak problem.
