Contrary to your post I have good evidence that cost of production at CPQ is lower than Dell's. This has been somewhat masked in the past primarily by the channel price protection schemes which CPQ employed, but except fro the 1H98 figures (which have to be discounted as trend indicators because of the impact of both the DEC acquisition and the correction of channel stuffing), CPQ has shown 6-7% better GM than Dell which is a pretty clear indicator that they can make boxes at lower cost. What do you base your assumption on?
