It will not take 20 years to recover. I wouldn't be surprised to see another 500 off the Dow mabe as far down as 7000.
Each time there has been a massive selloff, it was for different reasons. Look at 1987. Sam of Walmart lost a billion that day I believe. The market recovered. We have a combination ot circumstances now that also are different. Like you said,forget Russia.

This bull market has gone on and on. Everything still points to the market being healthy. Unemployment down. Means there are jobs being created and products are being sold. Interest rates are down.

On the other hand, PE's are getting pretty high. Personal debt( credit card abuse ) is very high. Is the market for all this productivity shrinking ?? Where are we exporting to ? What % of our GNP will be affected by the Japanese problems. Then you look at China. Vast market there. You get these unknowns. Further to come yet is if the EU will work. If the economy is becoming global, how do we digest all this. For damn sure,I don't know. Maybe Greenspan.

How does any of that effect WCII and telecom in this country? WCII is going along OK. Some slow down on the hubs apparently. More or less on schedule. Then we have this major correction and it hits companies like WCII bigtime because it was loaded with speculators. Secondly, it has negative earnings. etc etc

The Dow going to 7000 is not impossible. If it is going to do it, do it tomorrow and be done with it. Then you will see WCII and the other new kids on the block takeoff.
