A thread on Yahoo cited huge buy volume by Merrill and Goldman according to their
L2 tracking in the recent days. Also speculated they might know something about
pending upswing - buyout info suspected. Taking this info with a grain of salt, or two.

I know PAIR has been busy. Been busy since July as I indicated in my post back in
early August. They are not at the same level as last year though (when they had to
expand, buying two $2M testing machines (HP), and forced their suppliers to work multiple shifts for 100% PAIR output!). For 3Q 97, PAIR beat the street by $0.01. PAIR mgmt has indicated since back in 3Q 97 that 1Q 98 and 2Q 98 will be slower. We saw this. In the same CCs, they indicated 3Q and 4Q 98 will be good. They are on target with 3Q 98. Whether they will beat the street again, this is a good question. IMO, they will meet 3Q 98 estimates of $0.17 due to the pricing pressure.

Looking forward, September is around the corner. We have the following:

1) announcement of RBOC contracts
2) good sales at PAIR
3) buyout speculation (in the sector)

Go PAIR!!!
