Please post it whole, Hogger, as raw and as accurate as possible - it should be quite easy even without the language to pick out the passage that makes it 'exclusive'. ('exclusivo' in Spanish and likely in Portugues, also look for words like 'solo', 'sola', '£nico', '£nica' or the same as adverbs with the suffix '..mente'.) Somebody will come along who speaks portugu‚s - xyzebra might, and babelfish can give a rough approximation.
I strongly doubt that you will find any such thing. This is not the way business is done any more in South Am‚rica, they don't just hand over licenses to print money to gringos wandering through with rolls of yanqui dollars - you need truckloads of the stuff nowadays, and once you buy a permit or a minister or a bureaucrat, you have to keep on buying it or him - it's more like a rental agreement than a purchase, and is always subject to a better offer from somebody else.
It always was that way, of course - only the figures involved have changed - maybe all that's happened is that the decimal points have been moved. Check out 'The Collected Stories of O. Henry' one time - he was there, and tells at least a dozen variations of the 'Yanqui Trader vs BananaRepublic Reality' story. His moral is something like 'Crime pays, but you have to be very very good at it, and most players aren't, especially the foreigners'.
I don't believe aznt has any 'exclusive right' to export from the Amazon. If they did, they would be more forthcoming with evidence to support their right. We would have seen it on this thread already. |
