The emotional response of investors who have not experienced a long down turn could turn the markets ugly. Hopefully the dollar cost averaging model has been discussed enough that there will not be panic. It would be foolish to invest in stocks only when they are highly valued, the price declines offer the chance to accumulate more stock with the same investment. The markets will most likely move up at a more modest pace for the next 5-10 years, 30% was not sustainable year after year. I think the public is more informed with all the web sites and many news channels and will not panic, 20 years ago we would not have gotten 1/2 the news we get daily now. The information and technology today are making us better informed to make good financial decisions
