If a state take-over is to take place, Hong Kong will be ruined politically. Just like the middle class in China before the communist takeover before 1949 crying for help, if Hong Kong legeslature would allow that to happen, it is like drinking poison to relieve thirst and further, it's going to make Taiwan shit the bricks and never dare make a compromise over the unification issue with mainland China. When that happens, China will very possibly pick a fight and resort to force to gain back Taiwan.
