>> What exactly is the PCI slot for ? besides a video card why would I might need a extra slot ?<<

AGP PCI and ISA are expansion slots. AGP is a specialized PCI expansion slot. ISA is the older version of expansion slot. It is slower than PCI and is being phased out.

Possible expansion slot uses ie things you can put in your PCI slots.

SCSI host adapter
Modem ( still mostly ISA )
NIC ( Network Interface Card )
Sound Card ( mostly ISA but moving toward PCI )
Video Card
Fast Track IDE RAID
Scanner Card

Consider the lack of an AGP slot on the ASUS P2L97 when comparing to the ABIT board. Also the ABIT BH6 uses the BX chipset whereas the ASUS P2L97 uses the LX chipset. The BX chipset supports slower processors as well as the faster 350 to 550? CPU's

Someone please correct me if I am wrong...I do not think NT 4 supports AGP...??
