Thread,

I am very concerned about this article.

news.com

The lawsuit filed against Lexar Media requires that SNDK engineers spend a significant amount of time taking apart the competitors product to find out what is inside. The reverse engineering process takes these individuals away from their efforts in R&D and is very time consuming.

The judge refused to dismiss the case several weeks ago, presumably because there was sufficient evidence to procede. It would seem frivolous to bring a competitor to court regarding such a matter only to later disclose that the claim was baseless. That is to say, SNDK must have done something right or the "sanction" (Webster's defines this as "a provision of a law rewuiring a penalty for disobedience") would have been carried out. Could this "sanction" be the failed dismissal reported a few weeks ago?

Perhaps the judge has requested additional information which will require additional reverse engineering.

Could someone call the company and inquire diplomatically why SNDK has not responded to this press release. I have worn out my welcome there.
