Someone else is going to have to explain to Clinton that he will go down in history as the one responsible for a stock market crash with Monica Lewinsky as the prologue.

"Oh, that's such crap. The Stock market was around 3000 in 1993-- it's now up 166% or so in 6 years. If the market continues crashing down to 6000, it will still be up 100% in 6 years, which is far better than under Reagan or Bush or Carter or Ford or Nixon or Johnson."

Check where the stock market went from 1980 to 1988, the years of the Reagan regime. You would also be especially well advised to check out stock market performance during Johnson's term. During the days of the last bubble, which he helped create, and following administrations paid for.

Reagan spent $10's of billions on defense to crush communism. Clinton has benefited by hollowing out our defensive capabilities. Not necessary to have a strong military during these "peaceful" times, I guess.

Bush had to spend $10's of billions bailing out the S&L's, and the banking system in general. Clinton has benefited as some of the assets acquired then have been sold during his term, lowering the deficit.

He is the luckiest SOB in the office in decades. Others bit the bullet and he has benefited over and over again as the economy has done well, and their prior actions have helped the deficit and interest rates.

He struggled mightily against the Republicans that we "couldn't balance the budget in less than 10 years".

As it was beginning to balance itself.

Dwight (What exactly did he do?)
