Humbly report, EC, Budvar is now considered as precious in Bohemia as the crown jewels of Charles IV. It'll be a cold day in hell before either is privatized, I think. Anyway, rumor has it that Bud AB blew it, when in their push to butter up the people of Ceske Budejovice (Budweis) in the effort to buy out Budvar, they shipped in a load of kegs of the American Bud, and dispensed it for free during some celebration. Big mistake, huge! After that taste comparison test I don't think there is a single resident Budweiser that would stand for Bud AB's ownership of Budvar. ;-) On the subject of micro-brews, I tell you I'm very impressed with what's happening in the States. Wherever I go I sample the local brew, and nine times out of ten it's just yummy! No doubt about it, a new brew dawn on this continent! Cheers, Svejk abitare.it
