CNBS just reported a while ago that brokerage firms with web trading sites are beginning to place margin calls to retail investors. The fall in techs, particularly internut stocks, is causing the margin calls. They didn't say how wide spread the calls are.

These retail investors are in for a gut wrenching experience. They are going to have to return equity levels to 50% at a minimum, which could be a big chunk of change from some of the posters I've seen. If they can't they are going to get hurt bad when they are sold out at market at close. Or at market at the open when they don't show up by 4:30 with a check.
