I would love it if you are right about PTON's Q4!

Unfortunately, based on what I see and read, the concensus earnings for Q4 show an additional $3M in the red with the total net loss for 96 to just under $7M ($.45/shr). Granted, those estimates were made prior to the announcements of early December, but it wouldn't surprise me if Proteon was willing to "buy" some additional business to keep the resellers in the game with them as they develop products for next generation communcation technology.

I know very little about the market demand for ISDN lines in Japan, but I question the future of that technology here in the states. How many small/home offices do you know that can afford access to ISDN capability? My money is on xDSL type access via pre-existing cable for most SOHO environments. In that price range and with the expected bandwidth available it makes sense to network 2-5 PCs off one line. If Proteon is developing good technology that enables SOHO networking off cable modems for less than $2K, I think we have something....

Obviously, this is just my speculation and I welcome additional information on the viability of ISDN vs ADSL (xDSL) technology in all markets.

In the end I am still buying PTON below 3, and very aggressively around 2 1/2. I feel that the future for this company will be set by Q3 1997. We'll either be rich or looking for another under-valued gem.
