Hi Hal, you might be right about ampex as a long term growth stock, but here's another opinion. I had iomega at 18 and it went to 52 and split 3 for 1 and went to 85 in about 6 months. I had presstek at 48 and it went to 126 and split 2 for 1 and went to 200 in a less than a year. I had JLGI at 28 and it went to 85 in about 6 months. All three of these stock had either a great new technology that would revolutionize the industry or great new management that turned the company around. Ampex has both! With baby boomers getting ready to retire and pumping money into the stock market and the internet giving us so muc information we never had access to before and the opportunity to buy our own stocks and mange our own money, times have really changed. And nobody can figure out why the new stock market isn't following any past trends. With slower growth in 97, it's going to be harder and harder to find those high flyers. When they find ampex it is going to fly. You just had better know when to get out because those baby boomers are going to drive the stock price way over valuation. You can bet in 15 years when all those baby boomers start retiring and pulling their money out of the stock market, my money will be someplace safe. Maybe I'll bury it! Long on Ampex until everyone else is!
