i know you're asking tim, BUT...

i got into AMD because i knew that their chip was good - actually, better than intel, all the computer mags loved it - i had used them, and the product seemed superb. and, when i saw how the demand was there, and they just hadn't been able to meet it, i thought this was golden.

that was a year+ ago? i took a bath on it. and the price now is well below what i paid for it.

since then, intel's closed the gap, and many of the buyers are frustrated by the inability to meet the demand. thus, they've returned to intel.

i would NOT get into them until the sector starts back up again, but i suspect that amd's got too many perception obstacles to overcome to be a good stock investment.
