Las Vegas Lou, I know people here dont want to hear about Arianna Huffington but my friend Lorrie brought it up... I will say that I dont care what kind of books she authored on art, artists, childrens problems etc. Those things are nice, of course but they qualify her as a sort of first lady of the state perhaps in the tradition of Barbara Bush. She is not qualified, in any way, not at all, to comment on the software industry in california, the shortage of qualified technical workers, the infrastructure issues in Silicon Valley or any other business issue I have ever seen her comment on in any forum. (I would have far less of a problem with Hillary commenting on these issues because I see Hillary as a business person, jmo others would disagree Im sure).
BTW Huffington was the republican candidate with tons of money. He should have won, but didnt.
The other book was about the excesses of the women's movement and her disagreement with portions of it.
I have a huge problem with that, but I might not if I was a writer of books on childrens issues.
she was offered a 1,000,000 advance to write a sequel to her first book but she declined,
Im not impressed. Everybody gets stock options worth this much out here so what. That doesnt mean I go around promoting myself as some sort of business strategist in an industry I know nothing about.
Remember, Ms. Lewis (Monicas mom) is also an author and I dont want her telling me how to run my states business affairs either.
I was an architect of the Dell supply chain fwiw, ERP software and software management is my line of work. Michelle |
