RailAmerica, as you probably know from looking at its reports, is half rail company, half trailer company. They've ventured overseas (Chile, Australia) but not to the extent of, say, Wisconsin Central. Recently a New York-based investment company (EGS Associates) has been buying into their stock; I understand that they are doing so for investment purposes and not with any wish to exercise control. EGS, interestingly, has also been buying the stock of Mexico container and shipping company TMM. Only a couple of analysts cover RAIL and I understand that their estimates for 1999 EPS are in the vicinity of 65 cents per share, vs. today's close of 5 5/16. Tom Murray
