Good morning Frank. The futures are up about 24 now but who knows for sure what will happen at the opening. I heard that it may be quite volatile but that the market will end up positive today.

I was thinking late last night how all this stuff came about and there is really only one word for it: Manipulation. The market was down 500 points and some stocks dropped unbelievable. Let's take LU. It was down over 10 points to 70. If LU dropped 10 points for every 500 points down, it would be at 0 when the market hits 4000 and at that point the market would still be double what it was in 1987 before the crash. You can apply the same thing to Merck, WLA and the like. With WLA you would only need a drop to about 4500, Merck the market would be a little lower etc. Anyhow, just showing how stupid this sell-off was.

Everybody is talking about currencies. Here is an interesting article about the Malaysian currency. I think one of those countries over there accused one of those big money guys from over here before about manipulating the currencies.

biz.yahoo.com

Basics have not changed that much in our economy etc. to warrant this sudden drop in the markets. The little guys evidently have not sold that much, so who did? I heard some Funds have sold in case their investors will liquidate some of their holdings. Same thing happened last time the market tanked and Mutual Fund investors did not take much money out of the funds, as a matter of fact, there was more money put in at that time. It does make you wonder why those guys don't wait until they need to come up with cash.

Anyhow, I got to get out of here.

Sonny
