Coyote's switch falls into a class of programmable switches, probably on the lower end of the sophistication spectrum, that can be used for a variety of special services features. Its host architecture is proprietary, I believe, or at least it was about a year ago.
As the information in the link above points out, they've brought in talent from Summa Four, another programmable manufacturer, who, by the way, is now being acquired by CSCO.
Ten months ago I interviewed and spoke with all three, CSCO, CYO (actually, Sattel, when it was a subsidiary of Diana Corp. or DNA) and XLSW and I inquired about their timing with regards to VoIP readiness. None of them were prepared to answer that question much less preparing for such an eventuality, and none wanted to admit at the time that they had absolutely no intentions of poking a stick in eye of their best customers', namely the established international and PSTN carriers.
Today, they all have VoIP gateway provisions at the very least, and beyond.
