Linkon Deploys SS7 Enabled Internet Telephone
Gateways Carrier network makes commercial
trans-Pacific long distance calls

PR Newswire - September 01, 1998 09:03

FAIRFIELD, Conn., SEPT. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Linkon Corporation (OTC Bulletin
Board: LKON) announced today that its customer, Sequel Communications, Inc., an
alternative international carrier and value-added service provider, has started to make
commercial telephone calls over a central office based network featuring an
SS7-enabled LinkNet(TM) IP Telephony Gateway.

"This is yet another example of our ability to lead the market in early deployment of
complex state of the art technology solutions. We not only provided the core IP
Telephony technology but also designed the network and worked with our technology
partners Sun Microsystems (Nasdaq: SUNW), ADC NewNet (Nasdaq: ADCT) and
Designer Labs to create this exciting leading edge network." Said Lee W. Hill,
President and CEO of Linkon.

"Linkon has produced a network combining the best of the telephone and data worlds
to deliver switching, GSM compression and SS7 call control in one package. It also
costs only a fraction of what the various components that typically perform these
functions on an individual basis would have cost. The excellent price-performance ratio
of the LinkNet(TM) Gateway allows us to deploy more ports for the same investment
relative to competitors using traditional circuit switched technology." Added Eric M.
Hernaez, COO of Sequel.

The newly installed private data network connecting the USA and the Philippines is
powered by Sun Microsystems' computers and Solaris brand of UNIX operating
system. The SS7 technology provided by ADC NewNet was integrated by Designer
Labs, a NewNet Reseller. "The combination of the power of the NewNet stacks with
the unique Linkon DSP level signaling object architecture made my job much easier.
We were able to deploy this first of its kind network in record time." Said Peter
Sandstrom, President of Designer Labs.

"While ADC NewNet is pleased to contribute to this historic first deployment of SS7,
we see it as only the beginning of a widespread deployment throughout International
carriers. The advanced features of our AccessMANAGER SS7 can facilitate such
applications as local number portability, policy-based routing decisions, and access to
800/888 calling card verification." Said Dilip Singh, President of ADC NewNet.
