If they are lemmings, they were lemmings when they bought, too. Put enough lemmings together and they will roll right over you.

In some past bears, it has been 15 years before folks got their money back, if they were able to hold. Those on margin, which is not uncommon now, are not going to be allowed to hold, lemmings or not.

The brokers are not completely neutral either. They work on a percentage, they make money on IPOs, and they need volume. They also have holdings of their own, albeit with insurance. All of these are currently negatively affected.

BTW, the real world is not just a rumor. Sometimes real things happen outside trader space, and they affect even the most stalwart buyer of trading instruments.
