My NY broker said that the last leg of today's sell-off was triggered by margin calls--usually a crescendo of panic selling and harbinger of trend reversal.

I added IBM, WLA, CSCO, RMBS to my existing positions--its possible that one could get these stocks a couple of dollars cheaper, but I wasn't going to take a chance. Past experiences indicate that when the high-Q stocks recover, they behave like rockets.

Assuming the worst scenario, I could live with a further decline of 10% (very little chance of this happening) because of my long view and low initial costs of most stocks in my portfolio.
