The administration isn't interested in free market choice of health care. If their interim solutions, such as community rating, health care portability, and medicare payment cuts, cause more people to lose
their own insurance, they see it as a means to an end ... nationalized health care. The more people who are priced out of health care will make it inevitable.

Almost all of the Medicare cost savings in the last 8 years have come from cutting payments to service providers who in turn raise prices for the rest of us. They estimated that 90% of the savings that they stipulated in the last Medicare savings bill were due to reductions in fees paid. Although the Democrats bare the brunt of responsibility for screwing up the health care system, the Republicans have gone along fearing the power of the elderly voting bloc --- for whom 45% of the federal budget is spent.
