To All,

In its 19 November 1996 research report Van Kasper highlights some positive developments for Quidel. One is the major promotional campaigning that began last July by Ansell Consumer Products, Quidel's new distribution partner. Ansell began selling Quidel's pregnancy and ovulation tests OTC and targeted major chain stores such as Kmart, WalMart, Walgreens and Revco.

It would be interesting to see how successful Ansell was in filling the shelves at the targeted chains.

Since the major campaign just began in July, it probably didn't have too much impact on Quidel's second quarter (ending 31 October 1996) earnings. Full shelves should help the third quarter.

I checked at the Army Air Force Exchange Service department store and didn't see any Quidel products. I don't know if Quidel's products are sold OTC in Japan. I'll check at a few Japanese department stores to see if I can spot any. I'd be interested to hear from others on what's happening at their local chain stores.

Mike
