My original post on that thread was met with 10 different answers from 8 different people. Most of them were groundless, one was not and I said as much...even said I was off to do more research on that post. I recieved arguments like:

DELL is unstoppable because Michael is a great guy

DELL is unstoppable because no one can match their JIT model (ooh - lot's of research went into that)

DELL is unstoppable because other's are saddled by reseller models...again no research just opinion.

DELL is unstoppable because they have patents. Patents which may or may not give them a competitive advantage. The poster didn't articulate which patents were significant and how they would provide DELL with any advantage.

The one post that bearing looking into was that of SAP/ERP posted by Michelle. She mentioned that businesses have difficulty building these systems which are critical to building an effective JIT model. This comment has substance which I'm looking into. The thing is, these companies that had difficulty had it 2 or more years ago. I see no evidence of current companies having these type of problems and it COULD BE that these ERP issues have been rung out...I don't know. But I am investigating. If they have then that would indeed make replicating DELL's model (fundamentally based on this computer based delivery mechanism) replicable in a fairly short period of time.

As I said, my original question - why is dell unique or what makes them unique and why do bulls think this model can not be replicated was met with no responses of substance until Michelle posted her response a full week later. I'd been through incredible pain on that thread up to that point. Perhaps you bulls should all get together and come up with an agreed upon response as to why DELL continues growing in valuation.

Your response to my last post telling me I should do my research before I come on the thread when bulls there that have far less of a clue than I...very hypocritical. Futhermore, like many on SI you make assumptions about my background and experience in this buisness and in the market which may or may not be true. I believe in treating everyone with respect...until they lay down personal attacks. I recieved my fair share of these as well and I should point out that many folks I talk with regularly that do value my opinions congratulated me for biting my tongue. I have been treated with no respect before but never like the swarm I encountered on that thread so don't lay off the attacks on me as being my fault. I attacked no one - I asked a question.

I should go on to point out this opinion of the DELL thread is not just my own...it is the opinion of a multitude of people on other threads. I often encounter comments eluding to "the craziness on the DELL thread". I've now encountered it first hand and to be honest I have no intention of encountering again. So, enjoy the ride over there. Best of luck to you and all the DELL-heads! Seriously though..that is not a shot. Like I said, I respect investors regardless of their beliefs. Let's all hope for a nice little rally here ;)
