Republicans have gone along fearing the power of the elderly voting bloc --- for whom 45% of the federal budget is spent. I would register as a republican if someone would stand up to the elderly. What I dont like about people that bash the Clinton health care package (and I didnt like it either btw), is that they dont have any solution to the current situation, which is that I pay for elderly health care and get nothing myself. BTW related to this topic, there is a theme in Washington to constantly dwell on income as a way to differentiate certain classes of people. I think everyone can agree that income is a useless barometer of wealth, particularly when evaluating the elderly. I wish the politicians would get off that one. MH
