I think you are right, mostly, about the dynamics of technology, but GTR is not chiefly a stock picking letter. It attempts to pick ascendant technologies, which is just as hard, and ascendant technologies should be a component in anyone's stock picking algorithm. I do believe that the 1000 fold rise in Internet traffic every three years does change the environment for the new bandwidth providers. And such ascendant technologies as CDMA, WDM, and cable modems, prevailing in the face of hugely more powerful marketing of rival technologies, pointed the way to stocks such as Qualcomm, Ciena, and Broadcom.
