It is a calculation that takes shares short and divides by average volume which gives the number of days it could take based on the past average daily volume to cover the entire short position. 1,846,000/526,000 = 3.5 days based on number of shares short and average volume per day it would 3.5 days to cover. Hope this helps..... Been long and buying since 11/94.
