Hard to say though from personal observation the Malaysian bureaucracy could screw up a one car funeral.

A very very large amen. Anyone traveling between Thailand and Malaysia would likely see the most pronounced difference here.
By the way, on the point of Muslim/Bhuddist/Christian.

One thing that troubles me a bit is that at the intellectual level, Malaysian brand of Islam is largely viewed by western diplomats as a sort of bridge between Islamic and Western diplomacy channels. It is very much less strident then the brands of Islam seen in the middle east and much more amenable to acceptance. It had to be for the reasons of their multi cultural populace which has fared better under the current regime I must admit. I hope this bridge will not be destroyed by recent events.
