ed, I should amend my comments to clarify that of the several families I know who have super-size SUVs and large houses, none of them have made their money in the stock market. They own small businesses. Not trying to make any kind of statement, but I just noticed that you began your comment with "people are using their stock winnings"...so I don't personally know anyone like that, who's bought large houses etc. with stock winnings.
