Abbott's drip is administered through Bank of Boston, the number I have is (617) 575-3170. They can get you a prospectus for the drip.

In order to enroll, you do need to own at least one share of Abbott stock. For this, you can go through a broker, or also there are a number of services that will help you purchase your initial share. I use "The Moneypaper" newsletter. They charge a $15 fee to order that first share for you, and will help get you enrolled in the drip.

Let me know if you need more information.
