Let's not forget that long period where AMD was "pregnant" with .25u when AMD was at 266 MHz and Intel was at 400. That's a 50% margin. I'll grant you that Intel has better process technology. But remember that slot 1 allows Intel to run chips at higher frequencies, architectural differences DO exist, and Intel's larger scale of production allows them to introduce rarer higher frequency speeds faster than AMD. The recent evidence suggests that AMD is closing the technology gap. For one thing, AMD appears to have finally solved its yield problems. Also, AMD has introduced 350 MHz product. Furthermore, AMD is cooperating with Motorola, which has excellent process technology. Conclusion: AMD is catching up in the process technology race. And we all know who's winning the design race.
