Hi Barbara: The big one might come in October and I'll throw a guess out there:It won't just be the market,but rather an outside event that's going to get folks real upset! A long time ago I tried to start a little guessing game on this thread, so I'll try it again.Any other guesses...just for the fun of it? You want some guesses on what could cause a big one? Here is a scary one: an open military coup in Russia. It could come as early as Friday/this week-end, the pretext being the impasse between the Duma and Yeltsin over the new government. Even scarier: it might have popular support. I should emphasize that I don't wish for that to happen, I'd rather lose some money in the stock market. While a non-ideological, pragmatic authoritarian regime might be good for Russia in the long run (there are certainly recent precedents), Hitler came to power under similar economical, political conditions! And there are several potential Hitler's on Russia's political scene. I hope that I have not spoiled your breakfast, but this horror scenario has a non-negligible probability. Regards, Phil
