MONICA II TALE A MEDIA MYSTERY

THE Beltway is buzzing that Washington Post ace Bob Woodward is about to break a big exclusive about a second White House intern who has a story similar to Monica Lewinsky's.

But Woodward categorically denies it. I'm not working on any such thing, he told PAGE SIX yesterday from an airport in Chicago. It's absolutely untrue. Woodward said he had gotten several queries on his nonexistent scoop.

Both major newsweeklies have called me in the past couple days, Lucianne Goldberg said. Goldberg, the literary agent who convinced Linda Tripp to tape her phone calls with Lewinsky, continued, This thing has been around so long it has moss on it. But is there a second intern? I think there are 30 interns - are you kidding?

However, Goldberg doubts special prosecutor Ken Starr would bring a second intern before a grand jury to testify about further sexual highjinks in the Oval Office. They've already got the one ^intern_ they need. No use in gilding the lily.

On other Clinton fronts, Russia's Nationalist Party deputy Vladimir Zhirnovsky has told the Duma that Clinton should stay home and marry Monica instead of coming to the former Soviet Union for a summit.

A visit by President Clinton today is untimely, especially considering his recent moral scandal, the wacky Zhirnovsky - who has called for Russia to reclaim Alaska - said. We, as individuals with high moral character, would prefer not to meet a person who still can't sort out his relationship with his secretary.

The Prez has also taken flak over his recent pitch for education spending increases at Herndon Elementary School in Virginia. Fairfax County School Board member Jane K. Strauss, a Democrat whose district includes the school, boycotted the event.

She e-mailed board colleagues: I do not approve of the President's behavior. His sexual misconduct, lies and obstruction of the investigation are wrong. I am especially displeased with his pronouncements about the need for high moral character among youth when his behavior is blatantly immoral.

Meanwhile, First Daughter Chelsea Clinton, about to start her sophomore year at Stanford, is grown up enough that she was able to get into a bar during her last week on Martha's Vineyard.

Chelsea, 19, was part of a co-ed group that went to the Hot Tin Roof, which features live music. You have to be 21 to get in, and you have to show ID, but somehow she got in, said our insular spy.

The bar's management did not return calls. The White House said Chelsea went there for dinner with her friends. It's a restaurant, said a spokeswoman. You only need to be 21 to be served "alcohol".
