<<Jobs is going to France on September 19th>>

Hmmmmm. Very interesting.

France is the only European country to resist the internet.

The reason: France was the first country to have a national telecommunications system installed complete with e-mail, chatrooms and simple graphics.

It was setup similar to a huge CompuServe-like BBS system centered around a conspicuous all-in-one dumb terminal called MiniTel (Howard Stern fans keep quiet!).

They tried to push it here in the U.S. through some of the magazines. I almost got a MiniTel through New York magazine. Service was like $10 a month with one-time purchase of the MiniTel terminal for $39.

I just signed up for the service hooked up to it with my Mac SE. It was very rudimentary as a BBS. CompuServe had much more content.

Anyway. I suspect that the iMac will do well there. They just have top convinvce the French Telcos (the primary benifactors of MiniTel $$) that the internet and iMac will ultimately make them even more $$ by expanding international business. Apple could be the early pioneers of the French Internet industry!
