Gregg, re Ericsson and its W-CDMA cohorts are attempting to pressure Qualcomm from all directions, attempting to force capitulation to their desires and their terms... Along the same lines, we can probably expect the GSM PR machine to gin up some nasty, misleading article or press release around the time of QCOM's product announcements later this month. What I wonder at is how the GSM/TDMA operators around the world view the current p*****g match. It has to be their input that caused Ericy to put forth CDMA as the 3G technology of choice. If I am a Euro GSM operator with no current cdmaOne competitors (who might gain a 3G cost advantage), how is it in my interest to have Ericy hold up development by insisting on a non-backward-compatible standard? Would love to hear if you have spoken with GSM operators about this, Gregg. -Jim
