To all:

The distribution experience and skills of Leonard Shapiro can give us the following:

THEATRICAL - U.S. AND CANADA

A film with world wide theatrical release can receive 700% - 800% return on their investment.

Independant films can gross enormous sums at the box office. For example, "Shine" (3 million dollar budget) grossed over 35 million worldwide; "Sling Blade" (1 million dollar budget) over 24 million; "Trainspotting" over 16.5 million. There is no doubt that domestic theatrical distribution can mean huge returns for everyone involved.

FOREIGN (is a market that Leonarn Shapiro is highly experienced in)

In the event domestic theatrical distribution does not come to fruition, overseas theatrical can still mean a healthy profit for participants. the top ten overseas markets are Germany, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain, United Kingdom, australia, Japan, and Korea. for A-/B star driven films, these territories average $75,000 - $100,000 in non-refundable advances. Add that to the other sixty or so territories which pay between $5000 and $10,000 each, all tolled, worldwide advances outside the U.S. for a picture with star talent can bring $1.2 to 1.7 million dollars. (these revenues are guaranteed advance payments to NSKY, this doesn't include royalties on top of it)

TELEVISION, VIDEO, CABLE, DVD, PAY-PER-VIEW-U.S. & FOREIGN

Last, but certainly no least, is worldwide television, video and the ancillary markets. No producer goes into a feature intending to be relegated to these options. However, in the event it is necessary, television is growing at an exponential rate. Pay-Per-View, cable, network and DVD are quickly replacing video as the premiere market for star driven films devoid of distribution. It's a safety valve that didn't exist until very recently. Worldwide licensing fees can equal or surpass theatrical advances, and there is an enormous demand for English speaking films with American film or TV stars.

SO THE BG PICTURE HERE FOLKS, IS THAT WE HAVE SO MANY AVENUES TO MAKE MONEY THAT WE CAN PURSUE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE TALENTS OF LEONARD SHAPIRO.
