Quaker Oats did extremely well during the depression. I read the biography of one of the Quaker Oats heiresses, and she barely mentions the depression- her stock kept splitting, she mentioned that, and I think they increased the dividend a couple of times. People couldn't afford meat so they ate oats. Of course she wasn't eating oats...
