I don't factor the DOW into anything. I watch SPY for reflection of the S&P500 as the tick models general market sentiment better. For major stocks like DELL, GE, and the like I watch them to see what is happening as there is enough volume and number of trades to reflect the specific movement. For stocks like LCOS, ELNK, YHOO, other major techs I look at what the sector is doing or even the subindustry for trend.

The only thing I look at the Dow for is major correction of specific stocks for short term trades on one or two of them.
