IMP, INC. TAPS INDUSTRY VETERAN TO HEAD WAFER FOUNDRY SALES TEAM

The first three paragraphs of the release state:

SAN JOSE, CA., September 2, 1998-- IMP, Inc. (Nasdaq: IMPX) today announced that Mr. Michael Turner has been appointed Western Area Sales and Foundry Services Sales Manger. In the newly created position, Mr. Turner will be responsible for worldwide wafer foundry business development and standard product sales activity for the Company's largest revenue producing region, the Western United States.

"Mike has proven experience managing the business activity of a $100 million wafer foundry," said Barry Wiley, IMP vice president of marketing, sales and applications.
