Either get faith or sell when you can.
My point exactly, except it's not sell when I can, but don't touch the stock. BUT the point is, one has to GET the faith from somewhere/something. Either it's just the story, or it's rumor from a friend, or its knowing an insider (or believing someone who says they know an insider) or it's based on some kind of evaluation of some sort of figures. Or it's some combination of those and other things.
For me, the story is important, but so are at least SOME numbers. (Having been in high tech management I have heard a million stories, and many of them sound good until you crunch a few numbers.
I suggest that those on this thread can be BROADLY divided into three catagories: Those that have gotten the faith and are true believers come hell or high water, whose motto is my-mind-is-made-up-don't-confuse-me-with-the-facts; those who have gotten the faith but need reassurance to keep believing; and those that have read the good book and are interested but want to come to church, look around first, listen to a few sermons, and think about it before they sign up. (There is also a fourth set which incorporates a bunch of others; the disenchanted, the former true believers now turned cynic, the congenital naysayers, etc., but I try not to waste time on them.) I don't think the first set and I will ever communicate meaningfully as we are in such different places, and the best we can do is agree to coexist peacefully. The second and third sets are the ones I am interested in communicating with.
In short, help us find reasons to get / keep the faith, baby! |
