Frank, I don't understand why you are so upset with Kurlak. I think that INTC has some real problems, and this has nothing to do with Kurlak.

INTC started an ad campaign with the phrase "Intel Inside" in an attempt to distinguish itself from its competitors. I think that Intel began to believe its own marketing hype. Apparently the company got some bad marketing research feedback, because it believed that it was in a position to dictate the direction of the market as a result of the ad campaign. So, instead of producing a chip that would power the sub $1000 machines, it arrogantly went on with its own plans, oblivious to the damage that Cyrix and AMD would do.

The fact that neither competitor was profitable does not mitigate the fact that INTC missed a major market as a result of arrogance. It is now trying to play catch up with the Celeron, but I don't think that it will be successful in getting IBM and Compaq to once again be exclusive Intel shops.

TTFN,
CTC
