MindSpring Builds Point of Presence in Phoenix

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 2, 1998--MindSpring Enterprises, Inc. (Nasdaq: MSPG) today announced it has built an Internet Point of Presence
(POP) in Phoenix, Arizona and is beginning to move customers from the third-party network it had been utilizing for its customers in the Valley. The new facility
features state-of-the-art 3Com USRobotics networking equipment and supports the new v.90 protocol for 56K modem connections.

POP will provide our customers with the fastest and most reliable analog Internet connections available in the Valley of the Sun."

MindSpring acquired Phoenix-based Web hosting company Internet Direct in January of this year, and will expand its Phoenix operations to include a
state-of-the-art call center in the third quarter of this year. MindSpring first introduced its service to Phoenix in the third quarter of 1996, when it acquired the
Pipeline and InterRamp consumer dial-up subscribers of PSINet, Inc. MindSpring also offers service in Tuscon.
